Quite a contrast to the last fixture, as it was cold and windy and not a particularly nice afternoon for a rounders fixture. Despite the challenging weather, the girls were excited for the game and after a quick warm-up the first innings began. Eve Bailey had a solid performance as bowler and after a few no-balls started to show some consistency in delivery. Fielding took a little more time to settle and we made a few mistakes under pressure. Our batting in both innings was a little disappointing and this is something we need to work on in lessons. Few balls were hit and the girls seemed hesitant to swing at the ball. Nevertheless, after the first innings there was not much between the 2 teams so the 2nd innings was all to play for. Unfortunately, our fielding was not as tight and we allowed Winchester House to score on our mistakes and this allowed them to secure a solid lead. Our batting did not improve and we then relied on some half rounders from no-balls and some mis-fields which was not enough. The final score was a loss for The Grove 12 and a half to 5 and a half.
