It was our second match of the season and another very hot day.
We made our way to the field with high hopes following a good practice session the week before despite being one man down and Toby Cole with an injured hand. Kyle Dissanayake was the team captain for the game, Swanbourne won the toss and decided to bat first. We all bowled well but from the start it was obvious we were up against a very good opposition. Despite our best efforts with some excellent fielding by everyone Swanbourne finished up with an amazing 103 runs. So we went into bat knowing it was going to be a tall order to match Swanbourne’s total but we gave it our best shot but unfortunately for us their bowling was as good as their batting.
Everyone gave it their best.
The Grove: 42
Swanbourne House: 103

The boys were up against Swanbourne house school this week. After their tie against Ashfold they were really keen to win. They started as the batting team with our cricket captain Advik starting of facing some excellent bowls. The pairs worked together and only lost one wicket within their ten overs. The score for the boys stood at a respectable fifty two runs at the end of their overs.
They then moved onto fielding where there were some superb near misses on catching and a close miss to get the Swanbourne's wicket. Arnav and Gauthum did some superb fielding get the ball back to the bowler so fast to stop the other team from scoring any runs. A few wide balls and a couple of amazing fours from Swambourne just edged them ahead to fifty five runs.
The boys were understandably a bit disapointed to have only just lost but are determined to improve on this next term.
The Grove: 52/1
Swanbourne House: 55/0
