Foundation had a wonderful day at Blenheim Palace today. The sun was shining, and we were ready for a fun filled day of learning and exploring.
Once we arrived, we took a tour of the Palace and were amazed at all the beautiful features of the rooms especially the gold gilding on the ceilings. The Palace had hidden lots of felt mice around the rooms for us to spot so we had to keep our eyes peeled to spot them all!
It was fascinating to see all the Royal gowns on display with some children recognising costumes from the Kings coronation and we were so excited to see Queen Elizabeth II coronation gown too. Then we all had a king and queen moment trying out the throne and crowns. We think they suited us perfectly!
After a well-earned packed lunch we hopped on the train to the walled garden. The train was definitely a highlight, especially to rest tired legs!
We headed straight to the butterfly house and discovered so many different types of butterflies in all sorts of beautiful colours. We got to witness the lifecycle of the butterfly first hand with lots of butterflies ready to emerge from their chrysalis'. We were all so eager for them to land on us and for some of us it happened! What an amazing experience!
After feeling the heat of the butterfly house it was most definitely ice lolly time before our last run around before home time in the amazing maze! Luckily, we all made it out without getting lost!
The children had a wonderful day and showed absolute respect for the amazing history on display as well as to the public. They were impeccably behaved and a credit to our school.
